ABOUT THIS MONTH’S CONCEPT:
The Feast of the Seven Fishes originated sometime in the early 1900’s. Rooted in Southern Italian tradition, it is a communal meal meant to celebrate the end of a Christmas Eve fast. Decadent, lush, wine flowing - family and friends join together over a very specific amount of fishies.
Why seven?
No one really knows.
Some say the premise aligns with the seven Roman Catholic sacraments. Some say the seven hills of Rome. We’ll leave the debate up to theologians and historians alike and lean into the spooky whispers of candlelight and catacombs. Hopefully we’ll be wandering off for a bathroom break and bump into Stanley Tucci.
Expect holiday decadence, the most candles @thecaiterer has ever put in a grand hall, and the opulence of, yet again, another Portland Place production in the Central West End.
~ ~And we promise, all good cheer and celebratory vibes for our 4 year anni (no season II, episode VI “the bear” vibes - TYSM Donna Berzatto).~ ~
